From Carrie and Kelly
Teacher Jinny recently put us onto this article about tinkering – and we thought you should see it too! As we wrap up the school year and find summer days stretching ahead of us, we hope that you’ll find the inspiration to encourage and allow for tinkering of all sorts. Your children certainly need to discover the ‘gift’ of boredom and all that may spring from it, and finding (making) your own time to tinker, be it in the garden, kitchen, sewing room, workshop – wherever – will serve to rejuvenate your spirit and refresh your outlook. May this summer prove to be a time of growth and restoration both for everyone in your family!

Book Fair Wrap-up
The bulk of the orders placed at the Spring Book Fair have been filled and delivered — thank you for your patience while we waited for all of the books to show up! A few orders are yet to be completely filled, but those missing books should be arriving at Linden Tree Books any day now and will be promptly delivered to you. Many families have lots of new books to enjoy over the summer, and we raised about $400 in book credits for First Congo. Thank you to all who attended!
What a glorious evening we had on May 12th, celebrating Margaret and Claudia as they prepare to hang up their aprons! Many thanks are owed: to Adrienne Defendi for organizing the decorations, and all who brought lovely bouquets for the tables; to Liz Kristofferson, Elizabeth Garr, and Francisca Leyton for graciously greeting guests at the gate; and to Sue and Andy Uchida for underwriting the fabulous lighting that turned our yard into such a magical place!
Thank you Adeline White for organizing the order and pick-up of our bright orange balloons for the May Fete Parade.
Thanks are also due this month to Elizabeth Garr, and Jen Glos, for organizing Memory Book work nights for parents in the Four’s class.
And finally, a huge thank you to Aoife Maynard for all of her work in getting our Spring Picnic organized and executed, and thanks as well to many who stayed late to help with the clean-up afterwards!
The Davi family (Brooke, John, and big brothers Chase and Matthew) welcomed Elise into their family on May 22 – congratulations!
Have a wonderful summer!
